Differences between restart and factory reset
Restarting and factory resetting your Mill kitchen bin will have different results.
Restart: This keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble connecting to the internet, or isn’t working normally.
Factory reset: This erases all your personalized settings, and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again.
How to Restart
Restarting your bin can be a helpful place to start:
- Unplug your bin
- Wait for 10 seconds
- Plug it back in
- Give your bin a few minutes to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. This should happen automatically. You can check to see that it’s back online in the app.
How to Factory Reset
Important: A factory reset permanently erases your personalized settings so we don’t recommend doing it until you’ve tried restarting your bin first.
- Your bin will forget the Wi-Fi network name and password, and will be “Offline” in the app.
- Your personalized settings will revert to default settings. This includes your Dry & Grind schedule, and Kid & Pet Lock preferences.
Here’s how to perform a factory reset:
- Unplug your bin
- Press and hold the lid button while plugging the bin back in
- Keep holding the button until you see the LED pulse blue letting you know it’s ready to pair
- Go to settings in your Mill app (the gear icon), choose Device, and choose Remove your bin
- Go through the pairing steps in the app to reconnect your bin
