The lid button gives you quick access to a few simple commands for your bin:
- Press and hold for 3 seconds: to unlock your bin
- Double-tap: to start or stop a Dry & Grind cycle
Your bin comes with a lid lock designed with safety in mind. Here are a few tips on how to use it the additional lid lock features, accessible in the app, under Settings > Device > Lid lock:
Always unlocked
When selected, you can add kitchen scraps to your bin while a Dry & Grind cycle is running. When the lid opens, the cycle will pause. The heater and grind motor both turn off, but the heater may still be hot.
With Always unlocked, if you overfill the bucket the lid may pop open and cause the Dry & Grind cycle to fail -- so it's extra important to not overfill your bucket.
Locked when running
When selected, any time your bucket is hot (above 140°F or 60°C), the lock will automatically turn on. Hold the lid button for 3 seconds to open the lid.
Always locked
Beneficial for homes with kids or pets, when selected, your Mill will always lock upon closing. Hold the lid button for 3 seconds to open the lid. In the app, under Settings, choose Device, and you can choose another lock setting.
If you see that the lock turns orange, that's because the bucket is hot, and turning the Always Locked setting OFF will not unlock the bin.
