Mill has partnered with USPS to provide an environmentally friendly way to keep your Food Grounds in the food system by turning them into food for chickens.
If you have Mill pickups included or added-on to your subscription or purchase, there are two ways you can send your Food Grounds to Mill — by scheduling a USPS pickup in-app or by dropping off at a USPS drop off location.
Scheduling a USPS pickup
On the Mill app home screen, select Grounds and select Schedule pickup.
Check your address (be sure to double check details like your apartment number). If everything looks good, press Confirm Pickup.
In most cases USPS will pick up your package the very next day (except Sundays). It’s best to put your box in the pickup location (e.g. on your doorstep or in your mailroom) the morning of your pickup. Food Grounds are meant to be food for animals, after all, so you may attract an unwanted pest if you keep them out too long.
Not sure if USPS will pickup from your home? Visit here to confirm your address is eligible.
USPS Drop off
USPS offers thousands of drop off points nationwide. You can drop off your box at your local Post Office, or at thousands of participating National Retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, and more.
Visit here to find a USPS location near you. Select “National Retailer” or “Post Office” from the Location dropdown.
Missed pickup?
If no one has come to pick up your grounds by the end of the pickup day, just schedule a new pickup in your app by selecting Grounds from the home screen and then Schedule pickup. If USPS misses your pickup a few days in a row, contact us and we’ll escalate it to your local post office.
