Heads up that this might be a little dusty. Consider doing this outside or over a trashcan.

Replace and recycle the charcoal in your canister
- Open the rear door of the bin
- Remove the old canister and follow directions below to recycle
- Pop open the lid (like paint can) using a flat head screwdriver or butter knife
- Put the spent charcoal in the garbage. We know this doesn't feel quite right, but it's okay! Burying charcoal is a form of carbon sequestration, so putting it in the trash won’t add emissions.
- Peel off and dispose of the foam along the top edge
- Place the metal canister and lid in the recycling
- Take off the packaging and stickers from the replacement canister
- Put the canister in the door and return it to the back of the bin

Remove the old charcoal canister from your kitchen bin and place it aside. Be careful — it might be a little dusty.

- Peel off the sticker completely from top to bottom - you may want to do this over the sink as it can be a little messy.
- Place the new canister in your kitchen bin in the same location as your old canister.
- Replace the back panel, snapping it into place.
