We’ve rolled out a feature to a small set of Mill Plus customers called "Filter Status". Filter status allows you to track the lifespan of your carbon filter, so that you can keep your kitchen odor-free.
Your filter status is calculated on your device’s Dry & Grind cycle hours. Once your device hits a certain threshold of processing hours, your carbon filter will no longer be able to effectively absorb and block food scrap odors and your filter needs to be replaced. Mill Plus carbon filters last about 10-12 months, but lifespan varies depending on individual usage and types of food scraps.
Depending on the number of cycle hours on your bin, you could see the following statuses:
- Good – Your filter is working to block odors.
- Running Low – Your filter is still blocking odors, but will likely expire within the month.
- Expired – Your filter is no longer actively blocking odors and likely needs to be replaced.
If you’ve ordered a filter replacement in the past, you could also see another status “Set install date”. This simply means we need you to indicate when you installed your newest filter. The time picker in the Mill app will default to your most recent filter delivery date.
- If you installed your filter, select and confirm the install date (an approximation is fine).
- If you are keeping your extra filter as a backup, simply tap “I haven’t installed it yet”. When you’re ready to install your new filter, you can do so from the main Filter page.
