What's included:
- 2x return labels
- 1x new bin, bucket, and power cord
- Save the box to return your old bin, including the 2x blue bumpers from the sides of the bucket
- 1x empty bucket box for sending back your old bucket
Instructions
- Unpair your old bin: open the Mill app and navigate to Menu
→ Device and tap “Remove your bin.” Unplug from the wall then the back of the bin.
- Unpack your new bin. It comes in a special box that opens from the bottom — no need to open the top of the box.

- Tilt the box onto its side. Cut the tape on all 4 sides of the bottom of the box

- Remove the clips (4 total, 2 on each side). Release each clip by pulling out the latch to unlock, then pulling out the clip from the box completely.

- Lift the outer box up off the base. Ta da! (It’s like TV packaging)

- Open the bin lid and take out the bucket. Remove the blue plastic bumpers and the power cord box. Tip: leave the bucket out of the bin after removing the packaging to make the bin a little lighter when you move it around.

- Lift the bin out of the base using the 2 rear handles.
3. Swap your bins

- Bring your bins together to complete your final swaps.

- Unplug the power cord and remove the charcoal drawer from your old bin and put it in your new bin, unless your new bin came with a new type of charcoal filter - in that case, you can just use the new filter and send the old one back to us.

- Plug in your new bin with its new power cord.

- Move your bin back to your preferred spot. Make sure your bin is on a hard, even floor so it’s ready for the daily grind.

- Open the Mill app and tap “Set up your bin.” Skip the “Unboxing” chapter and go straight to the “Set up your bin” chapter.
4. Prepare your old bin for its journey back to Mill

- Familiarize yourself with the packaging materials

- Remove the bucket from your old bin and transfer all contents (if not empty) from your old bucket into your new bucket.
- Wrap your old, empty bucket in a plastic garbage bag and put it in the bucket return box. Place the roll up piece flat on top of the bucket and seal the box. This helps us repair and refurbish your old bin so it can get it back to keeping food out of landfills.

- Place the old power cord in the power cord box. Put the closed box into the bin liner.
5. Make sure the bucket is removed from the bin. Tape the bin lid closed using painter’s tape, masking tape, or clear packing tape — please do not use duct tape.
6. Place your old bin into the foam base. Be sure the pedal is on the side with the front cut out or it will not seat properly.
7. If the top foam is still in the top of the box, bring the large box over the top and shuffle it down over the base packaging until it is touching the floor. If the top foam has been removed from the top of the box, place the top foam on the top of the bin and press down until it fits snugly.
8. Insert the 4 rectangular clips on both sides and push in the latches to lock them.
9. Tape the top and bottom of the box and the bucket box with at least 2 strips of tape each.
10. Place the FedEx return label OVER the original shipping label on BOTH boxes.
11. Self-schedule a FedEx pickup or reach out to Mill Support if you need more assistance when your bin is ready to be picked up. On the pickup day, you can leave both boxes outside for FedEx.
